9/9 Portal & Virgo New Moon: A Cosmic Reset Ritual

9/9 Portal & Virgo New Moon: A Cosmic Reset Ritual

Release what is finished. Reset what isn't working. Re-align with what you're ready to create.

The energy surrounding 9/9 offers a beautiful opportunity for reflection and release, followed by the fresh-start energy of the Virgo New Moon on 11 September.

So if you've been feeling the need for a reset, a little decluttering of the mind, or simply a moment to reconnect with yourself, this is a lovely time to slow down and create some space.

What is the 9/9 Portal?

In numerology and spiritual traditions, 9 is associated with completion, wisdom, compassion and the closing of cycles.

As the final single digit, 9 is often viewed symbolically as the end of one chapter before another begins. When the date reaches 9/9, those themes are traditionally considered to be amplified.

Think of it less as something you have to make happen and more as an invitation to ask yourself:

What has run its course?

What am I still carrying that I don't need to take with me?

What have I learned?

And perhaps most importantly...

What am I ready to make space for now?

The 9/9 Portal isn't an astronomical phenomenon. It's a spiritual and numerological framework that many people use as a meaningful point for reflection, release and intention-setting.

And this year, there's a particularly lovely next chapter waiting just around the corner.

Enter the Virgo New Moon

The September New Moon reaches its exact point in the UK at 4:27am on Friday 11 September, in the sign of Virgo.

A New Moon marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle, and in astrology it is traditionally associated with new beginnings, intentions and planting seeds for what we want to grow.

Virgo brings a beautifully grounded flavour to that fresh start.

Virgo is an Earth sign traditionally associated with discernment, routines, organisation, practical improvements, wellbeing and paying attention to the details of everyday life.

So rather than asking:

“How can I completely reinvent myself?”

Perhaps the better Virgo question is:

“What small change would genuinely make my life feel better?”

Maybe it's a routine you've been meaning to create.

A boundary you've been avoiding.

A space that needs clearing.

More time for yourself.

Less time giving your energy to things that leave you depleted.

Sometimes a new chapter doesn't begin with a dramatic leap.

Sometimes it begins with one small, intentional choice.

Your Cosmic Reset Ritual

You don't need an elaborate altar or a cupboard full of ritual tools.

This is about creating a quiet moment for yourself, reflecting honestly and choosing what you want to carry forward.

You can do the ritual on the evening of 9 September, around the New Moon on 11 September, or whenever feels meaningful to you.

There is no need to get the timing perfect.

Your intention matters more than the clock.

1. CLEAR

Begin by creating a little space around you.

Tidy your chosen area, open a window, light a candle or use whatever gentle cleansing practice feels right for you.

As you do, take a few slow breaths.

Let this be the physical beginning of your reset.

You might quietly say:

I am making space for what comes next.

2. RELEASE

Take your journal and write down what you are ready to leave behind.

Don't overthink it.

It could be:

  • An old habit
  • A limiting belief
  • A pattern you've recognised
  • A situation you've outgrown
  • Something that continually drains your energy
  • A fear you've been carrying
  • Something you keep telling yourself you should be

You don't need to judge any of it.

Simply acknowledge it.

What has this experience taught you?

And then ask:

Do I really need to carry this into my next chapter?

If you'd like, write:

I release what no longer serves me.
I keep the wisdom.
I leave the weight behind.

You can tear up the page afterwards, fold it away, or simply close your journal.

There is no right way to release something.

3. RESET

Now turn to a fresh page.

This is where we bring in that grounded Virgo energy.

Instead of making a huge list of everything you want to change, choose one or two areas of your life that could use some loving attention.

Ask yourself:

What isn't working for me right now?

Maybe your mornings feel chaotic.

Perhaps you're constantly saying yes when you really want to say no.

Maybe you've forgotten to make space for creativity, rest or the things that make you feel like yourself.

Or perhaps your physical space simply needs a good clear-out.

Choose something small enough to actually do.

Because progress doesn't require perfection.

4. SET YOUR INTENTION

Now ask yourself:

What do I want to create more of?

Write one to three intentions.

Try to make them personal and meaningful rather than something you think you should want.

For example:

I create more peace in my everyday life.

I make time for the things that bring me joy.

I trust myself to make choices that support me.

I create healthier routines that nourish me.

I welcome growth without rushing the process.

Your intention doesn't have to be enormous.

A seed is still a beginning.

5. CHOOSE YOUR CRYSTAL

If you'd like to bring crystals into your ritual, choose one that feels connected to your intention.

Clear Quartz

For clarity, focus and intention-setting.

Amethyst

For reflection, calm and creating a quieter space within.

Moonstone

For new beginnings, intuition and embracing change.

Green Aventurine

For growth, optimism and welcoming new possibilities.

You don't need all four.

Choose the one that feels right for you.

Hold your crystal for a few moments, close your eyes and return to the intention you've written.

Take a few slow breaths.

Let yourself imagine what that intention could look and feel like in your everyday life.

6. RE-ALIGN

This is the part I love most about bringing the Virgo New Moon into the ritual.

Don't stop at the intention.

Ask:

What is one small thing I can actually do?

If your intention is more peace, perhaps you protect 20 minutes of quiet time tomorrow.

If it's better routines, choose one routine to begin.

If it's more creativity, put something creative into your calendar.

If it's letting go, stop reopening a door you've already decided to close.

Your action doesn't need to be dramatic.

It simply needs to support the person you're choosing to become.

A Final Moment

When you're finished, sit quietly for a few moments.

Hold your crystal.

Read your intention once more.

And when you're ready, say:

I release what is finished.
I reset what needs my attention.
I re-align with what I am ready to create.
I trust myself to take the next step.

Then let it go.

You don't need to know exactly how the whole story unfolds.

You only need to know what your next step is.

Your Cosmic Reset

The beauty of this ritual isn't in doing it perfectly.

It's in giving yourself permission to pause.

To recognise what you've learned.

To release what you've outgrown.

To make a little more room for yourself.

And to choose one small, intentional step towards the life you're creating.

The 9/9 Portal can be your moment of release.

The Virgo New Moon can be your moment to reset.

And the next chapter?

That begins with you.

Release • Reset • Re-align

What will you make space for?
